Carson Johnstone netted a hat trick to lead the Fort Erie Meteors over the Thorold Blackhawks, 5-3. Johnstone notched his first tally 16:00 into the first period. He then added goals at 15:13 into the second and at 5:10 into the third.Fort Erie put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Thorold to score on any of its three power plays. The Meteors forced the Blackhawks goalie Vinny Merante to work between the pipes, taking 48 shots. Fort Erie also got points from Jesse Pereira, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Fort Erie also got a goal from Nik Passero as well. Other players who recorded assists for Fort Erie were Dallas Ingram, Mac Passero, Cameron Fairgrieve, and Andy Sturtz, who contributed one a piece and Braden Kavaravtzis and Richard DeMarco, who each chipped in two. Thorold's offense rang up 52 shots on Fort Erie's net. The Blackhawks were led by Owen Sobchak, who had one goal and two assists. Sobchak scored short handed 1:55 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Thorold additionally got points from Joel Forestell, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Dan Chudobiak, who also finished with one goal and one assist. The Meteors' Connor Visca stopped 49 shots out of the 52 that he faced. Fort Erie incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors. Vinny Merante made 43 saves for Thorold on 48 shots. The Blackhawks ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. Thorold ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Sobchak was ejected from the game.
