Leamington squeaks by St. Marys, 4-3

The Leamington Flyers gutted out a close 4-3 win against the St. Marys Lincolns.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Jared Dennis's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Leamington was paced by Dennis, who racked up one goal. Dennis scored 13:30 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Leamington.

In the losing effort, St. Marys was led by Owen MacDonald, who registered two goals. MacDonald scored the first of his two goals at 16 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-1. David Sproat assisted on the tally. MacDonald's next tally made the score 3-2 Leamington with 4:45 left in the second period. Sproat picked up the assist.

The Flyers made the Lincolns' goalies to work all game long, taking 31 shots and forcing 27 saves. Jacob Theut made eight stops and Craig Wood made 19. Leamington stifled St. Marys' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Leamington also got a goal from Nick Beaune as well. Other players who recorded assists for Leamington were Kyle Bowman, who had one and Tony Spidalieri, who had two.

St. Marys additionally got points from Calvin Penney, who also tallied one goal and one assist. More assists for St. Marys came via Danny Bryan, who had one.

The Flyers' Austyn Roudebush stopped 20 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Leamington incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Lincolns incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
