Stoney Creek uses early goal to top Fort Erie, 4-2

Cordell James gave the Stoney Creek Warriors the lead in the first period, and the Fort Erie Meteors was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 4-2.

Stoney Creek took over the lead for good with a goal by James at 7:53 in the first period. The Warriors earned a power play opportunity when Nik Passero was put in the box for interference. Wesley St. Amand picked up the assist.

Stoney Creek was led by Zach Niemanen, who had one goal and one assist. Niemanen scored on the power play 26 seconds into the third period to make the score 3-1 Stoney Creek. Alexander Zaccaria provided the assist.

Dave Eccles also scored for Stoney Creek. In addition, Stoney Creek received assists from Aleksander Panov, Blake Luscombe, and Jake Milligan, who each chipped in one.

Fort Erie was helped by Andy Sturtz, who grabbed one goal. Sturtz scored on the power play 18:16 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Stoney Creek. The Meteors had gained a power play chance when Jake Bain was whistled for slashing. Braeden Kavaravtzis picked up the assist. Fort Erie also got a goal from Cameron Fairgrieve as well. Other players who recorded assists for Fort Erie were Austin Carroll and Carson Johnstone, who contributed one a piece.

Alexander Brooks-Potts made 24 saves for the Warriors on 26 shots. Stoney Creek incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Wyatt Pickrell rejected 24 shots on goal for Fort Erie. The Meteors incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
