Caledonia squeaks by Brampton, 6-4Gaylord Powless Arena Sat, Jan 05, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Caledonia Corvairs gutted out a close 6-4 win against the Brampton Bombers. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Matt Quilty secured the win for Caledonia with a goal in the third period. Quilty had a great game for the Corvairs, netting two goals. Caledonia pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 20 penalty minutes. Brampton was unable to stop the Corvairs from sending pucks towards the net, and Caledonia eventually piled up 41 shots on goal. Caledonia also got points from Connor Murphy, who also had one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, Jeff Swift, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Brandon Montour, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Caledonia also got a goal from Brier Jonathan as well. More assists for Caledonia came via Justin Abraham and Simon Blythe, who each chipped in one. The Bombers' offense rang up 31 shots on the Corvairs' net. Brampton was ineffective while on the power play, as it was held to one goal off of 10 man advantages. The Bombers were led by Reid Jackman, who registered two goals. Jackman scored the first of his two goals at 6:13 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Brampton. Nik Borschevsky provided the assist. Jackman's next tally made the score 4-4 with 13:50 left in the third period. Brampton had gotten the advantage when Caledonia's Blythe was sent off for slashing. Phil Caputo picked up the assist. Kyle Allan also scored for Brampton. In addition, Brampton received assists from Brady Clouthier and Francois Cote, who contributed one a piece. Marcus DelConte recorded 27 saves for the Corvairs. Caledonia registered two goals on six power play opportunities. Erik Angeli made 35 saves for the Bombers on 40 shots. Brampton incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
