Brampton outlasts Stratford, 4-3

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Brampton Bombers escaped with a 4-3 victory over the Stratford Cullitons.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Eric DiCarlo's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Brampton was sparked by DiCarlo, who tallied one goal. DiCarlo scored on the power play 9:45 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Brampton. The Bombers had gotten the advantage when Stratford's Shane O Brien was sent off for charging. Brandon Clelland assisted on the tally.

Brampton forced the Cullitons goalie Nick Caldwell to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Brampton additionally got points from Francois Cote, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Calvin Gomes also scored for Brampton. In addition, Brampton received assists from Connor Andersen, Jake Gilmour, Josh Villaflor, and Brad Sheppard, who contributed one a piece.

The Bombers were unable to stop Stratford from sending pucks towards the net, and the Cullitons eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Stratford was helped by Jake Pleon, who had one goal. Pleon scored on the power play 14:52 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Stratford. The Cullitons had gained a power play chance when Nik Borschevsky was whistled for holding. Trevor Sauder provided the assist. Stratford also got a goal from Jonathan Langford as well. Other players who recorded assists for Stratford were Mitch Brooks and Brett Heaman, who each chipped in one.

Brampton's Erik Angeli stopped 28 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Bombers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Nick Caldwell made 29 saves for Stratford on 33 shots. The Cullitons incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
