Cambridge rides Machalski to victory over Caledonia, 4-1Galt Arena Gardens Sat, Dec 08, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Cambridge Winter Hawks relied on the sparkling performance of Lucas Machalski in net to grab a 4-1 win against the Caledonia Corvairs. Cambridge's penalty kill excelled, as the Winter Hawks gave up zero goals despite allowing nine power plays. Cambridge was led by Aaron Duggan, who finished with one goal. Duggan scored 8:38 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Cambridge. Andrew Coupland provided the assist. The Winter Hawks stifled Caledonia's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Cambridge's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Winter Hawks finished with 30 penalty minutes. Mitch Klie also scored for Cambridge. In addition, Cambridge received assists from Brennon Pearce, who had two and Hudson Michaelis, Cody Gratton, Anthony Guido, and Chris Taylor, who each chipped in one. The Corvairs could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Caledonia puts an average of 3.9 pucks into the net per game. The Corvairs were led by Tyler Norrie, who scored the team's only goal. Norrie scored 7:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Caledonia. Fabrizio Ricci assisted on the tally. Machalski rejected 27 shots on goal for Cambridge. The Winter Hawks registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Justis Husak recorded 23 saves for Caledonia. The Corvairs incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
