Listowel uses shootout to best Kitchener, 3-2 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Listowel Cyclones defeated the Kitchener Dutchmen in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO).

The two teams needed six turns to complete the shootout.

Listowel came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Cyclones was down 2-0 after a goal by Kitchener's Dylan Bursey at 1:07 in the second period. Listowel knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Caleb Cameron at 8:55 in the second period.

Cameron had two goals to lead the Cyclones to victory.

Listowel's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on 10 Kitchener power plays. The Cyclones forced the Dutchmen goalie Marc Williams to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Listowel's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Cyclones finished with 26 penalty minutes.

More assists for Listowel came via Jacob Robitaille, who had two and Kyle Ellis and Aaron Armstrong, who each chipped in one.

Kitchener stifled Listowel's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Dutchmen's offense rang up 42 shots on the Cyclones' net.

Kitchener also got a goal from Philip Moser as well. In addition, Kitchener received assists from Logan Schmidt (APM), Brett Clampitt, Clayton Greer, and Keegan Alvestad, who contributed one a piece.

Drew Reinhardt rejected 40 shots on goal for Listowel. The Cyclones registered zero goals on four power play opportunities. Marc Williams made 30 saves for Kitchener on 32 shots. The Dutchmen incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
