Komasara nets hat trick, leads Port Colborne to 7-4 win over St. Catharines

A hat trick by Bryan Komasara was the highlight in Pirates' 7-4 win against the St. Catharines Falcons.

Komasara notched his first tally 12:54 into the second period. He then added goals at 3:22 into the third and at 5:32 into the third.

Morgan Hudson frustrated St. Catharines' offense all game, and stopped 28 shots en route to a shutout. Hudson managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.96 prior to the game.

The Falcons' power play was ineffective against the Port Colborne Pirates' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Port Colborne's offense rang up 33 shots on St. Catharines' net. The Pirates' goal total was higher than their season average. Port Colborne averages 4.9 goals per game. The defensemen of the Pirates were also effective in the Falcons' zone, and came away with two goals. Port Colborne found itself short handed often, totaling 28 penalty minutes and allowing seven power plays.

Port Colborne also got points from Jordan Bolibruck, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Port Colborne included Dima Lavrenov, who had one and John DiLorenzo, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Port Colborne were Thomas Sestini, DYLAN BURDICK, Jordan Warren, and Ryan Pilon, who contributed one a piece and Dayne Phillips and Charlie Izaguirre, who each chipped in three.

St. Catharines could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Falcons average 6.4 goals per game. St. Catharines' offense rang up 39 shots on the Pirates' net.

The Falcons were helped by Andy Sturtz, who finished with one goal. Sturtz scored on the power play 2:27 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Catharines. St. Catharines had gained a power play chance when Zack Deconilys was whistled for hooking. Luke Karaim provided the assist. St. Catharines additionally got points from Aaron Taylor, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Kyle Woodhouse also scored for St. Catharines. More assists for St. Catharines came via Ben Walsh, Greg Jambrosich, Jesse Miller, Spencer DeWolfe, and Mitch Bennett, who contributed one a piece.

Port Colborne registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Jonathon D Ilario rejected 26 shots on goal for the Falcons. St. Catharines incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Falcons, Koddi Quick was ejected from the game.
