Kitchener squeaks by Caledonia, 3-2

The Kitchener Dutchmen and the Caledonia Corvairs were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Kitchener made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Tyler Hoffman's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Hoffman had a great game for the Dutchmen, netting two goals.

Kitchener's penalty kill excelled, as the Dutchmen gave up zero goals despite allowing nine power plays.

Kitchener stifled Caledonia's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Matt Guild also scored for Kitchener. More assists for Kitchener came via Chris Eckert, who had two and Philip Moser and Eric Hammerl, who contributed one a piece.

The Corvairs' offense operated below they season average. Caledonia averages 4.1 goals per game. The Corvairs forced the Dutchmen goalie Marc Williams to work between the pipes, taking 56 shots.

Caledonia was helped by Scott Dorian, who finished with one goal. Dorian scored 10:47 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Caledonia. Brendan Bomberry assisted on the tally. Caledonia also got a goal from Connor Murphy as well. Other players who recorded assists for Caledonia were Tyler Norrie, who had one and Brandon Montour, who had two.

Williams recorded 54 saves for Kitchener. The Dutchmen totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. For Kitchener, Andrew Boer was ejected from the game. Justis Husak rejected 23 shots on goal for the Corvairs. Caledonia incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
