Listowel rips Brampton, 5-1

The Brampton Bombers had trouble finding ways to stop the Listowel Cyclones, which beat Bombers, 5-1.

Colten Pickett was all over the ice for Listowel, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Pickett scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 18:34 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Listowel. The Cyclones had taken the advantage when Brampton's Brady Clouthier got sent off for holding stick. Sam Feagan assisted on the tally. Pickett's next tally on the power play made the score 3-1 Listowel with 12:14 left in the second period. Listowel had gained a power play chance when Francois Cote was whistled for fighting. Dylan Sayles picked up the assist.

The Cyclones were led by goalie Daniel Dekoning, who finished with 25 saves while allowing one goal. Dekoning certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.84 entering the contest.

Listowel put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Bombers to score on any of their four power plays. Brampton was unable to stop the Cyclones from sending pucks towards the net, and Listowel eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Listowel also got points from Feagan, who also had one goal and one assist. Scott Pawson also scored for Listowel. Other players who recorded assists for Listowel were Caleb Cameron, who had two and Tyler Crawford, Mac Nichol, Patrick Bell, and Ben Shelley, who contributed one a piece.

The Bombers were led by Calvin Gomes, who scored the team's only goal. Gomes scored short handed 6:10 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Listowel. Brandon Clelland assisted on the tally.

The Cyclones incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. For Listowel, Brandon Preistap was ejected from the game. Bryan Raymond made 28 saves for Brampton on 33 shots. The Bombers ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. Brampton ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Cote was ejected from the game.
