Leamington squeaks by Sarnia, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Leamington Flyers escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Sarnia Legionnaires.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Jared Dennis secured the win for Leamington with a goal in the third period.

The Flyers were led by Dennis, who finished with one goal. Dennis scored 15:45 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Leamington. Chris Scott assisted on the tally.

Leamington put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Sarnia to score on any of its four power plays.

Leamington also got points from Alex Seguin, who also registered one goal and one assist and Scott, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Leamington also got a goal from Dakota Olvin as well. In addition, Leamington received assists from Nathan Opblinger, Joe Manchurek, and Brett Langlois, who contributed one a piece.

The Legionnaires struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 28 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays.

Sarnia was led by Jason Teschke, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Teschke scored 4:45 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Nathan Mater provided the assist. Josh Kestner also scored for Sarnia. Other players who recorded assists for Sarnia were Brent Sauve, who had one.

Matt Mancina recorded 22 saves for the Flyers. Leamington incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Sean Parker made 24 saves for the Legionnaires on 28 shots.
