Richardson's goals lift Chatham to 3-1 victory over LaSalleChatham Memorial Arena Sun, Nov 25, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Trevor Richardson had two goals to lead the Chatham Maroons to a 3-1 victory over the LaSalle Vipers. Richardson scored at 17:21 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Chatham and again while 19:57 into the third to make the score 3-1 Chatham.Chatham's Darien Ekblad was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 29 saves and let only one puck past him. Ekblad managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.01 prior to the game. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 14:05 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Maroons' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three LaSalle power plays. Chatham kept LaSalle's goalie busy throughout the game, and Taylor Speed made 39 saves on 42 shots. Chatham also got a goal from Sean Myers as well. In addition, Chatham received assists from Michael Verboom, who had two and Brayden Hopkins, Alexander Morgan, and Blake Blondeel, who each chipped in one. The Vipers racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 25.0 minutes per game LaSalle had been spending in the box. The Vipers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. LaSalle did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Vipers average 3.8 goals per game. LaSalle was led by Scott Prier, who scored the team's only goal. Prier scored 14:50 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Blake Jones assisted on the tally. The Maroons ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For Chatham, Oliver Blayne was ejected from the game. The Vipers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Rio Anzolin was ejected from the game.
