Caledonia hangs on, beats Waterloo 4-2

Nate Mitton gave the Caledonia Corvairs the lead in the first period, and the Waterloo Siskins was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 4-2.

Caledonia took over the lead for good with a goal by Mitton at 10:24 in the first period. Mitch Brown assisted on the tally.

The Corvairs were led by Matt Quilty, who racked up one goal. Quilty scored 19:22 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Caledonia. Justin Abraham provided the assist.

Caledonia made Waterloo's netminders to work without much rest, firing 43 shots and forcing 39 saves. PJ Bridges made 10 stops and Darren Huck made 29. The Corvairs stifled the Siskins' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Caledonia also got a goal from Tyler Norrie as well. More assists for Caledonia came via Connor Murphy, Dalton Riley, and Brandon Montour, who each chipped in one.

Waterloo put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Caledonia to score on any of its three power plays. The Siskins did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Waterloo averages 4.1 goals per game. The Siskins kept the Corvairs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Mitchell Knight(APJ) made 41 saves on 43 shots.

Waterloo was helped by Christian Mroczkowski, who registered one goal. Mroczkowski scored 6:59 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Caledonia. Evan Buehler assisted on the tally. Stephen Witiuk also scored for Waterloo. In addition, Waterloo received assists from Jordan Cale, James Soper, and Adam Campagnolo, who contributed one a piece.

Caledonia incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Siskins incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
