Welland downs Stoney Creek, 4-1

Braden Curry registered one point to lead the Welland Jr. Canadians to a 4-1 victory over the Stoney Creek Warriors.

Welland excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Jr. Canadians' offense rang up 34 shots on Stoney Creek's net.

Welland also got a goal from Matt Gillard as well. Other players who recorded assists for Welland were Brooker Muir, who had two and Riley Brooks, Chris McDougall, and Gabe Ruggi, who contributed one a piece.

The Warriors put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Welland to score on any of its six power plays.

Stoney Creek was led by Marco Mattina, who scored the team's only goal. Mattina scored 17:36 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Welland. Harry Polyoka provided the assist.

McDougall recorded 19 saves for the Jr. Canadians. Welland incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Brendan Polasek made 30 saves for the Warriors on 33 shots. Stoney Creek incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Warriors ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Dave Eccles was ejected from the game.
