Hudson leads Port Colborne to shutout victory over Fort Erie

Morgan Hudson was superb between the pipes for the Port Colborne Pirates, as he did not allow a goal in a 3-0 victory over the Fort Erie Meteors.

Port Colborne was paced by Dayne Phillips, who finished with one goal and one assist. Phillips scored 16:25 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Port Colborne. Charlie Izaguirre provided the assist.

The Pirates stifled Fort Erie's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Port Colborne featured an improved defense during the game. The Pirates gives up 3.0 goals on average per game. The Meteors were unable to stop Port Colborne from sending pucks towards the net, and the Pirates eventually piled up 43 shots on goal.

John DiLorenzo also scored for Port Colborne. Other players who recorded assists for Port Colborne were Thomas Sestini, who had two and Zack Deconilys and Jordan Bolibruck, who each chipped in one.

Fort Erie put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Port Colborne to score on any of its six power plays. The Meteors did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Fort Erie puts an average of 2.7 pucks into the net per game. The Meteors kept the Pirates' goalie busy throughout the game, and Hudson made 38 saves on 38 shots.

Port Colborne incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Wyatt Pickrell recorded 40 saves for Fort Erie. The Meteors incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
