Niagara Falls' Vinnai deadly on offense in 3-1 win against St. Catharines

Cole Vinnai was all over the ice for the Niagara Falls Canucks, as he tallied two goals in Niagara Falls' 3-1 win over the St. Catharines Falcons.

Vinnai scored at 13:34 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Niagara Falls and again while 19:27 into the third to make the score 3-1 Niagara Falls.

The Canucks were led by goalie Hunter Johnson, who finished with 31 saves while allowing one goal. Johnson certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.02 entering the contest.

Niagara Falls was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 24 penalty minutes. The Canucks was shut out on the power play, going scoring scoreless on 15 chances with a man advantage.

Niagara Falls also got a goal from Cam Stewart as well. In addition, Niagara Falls received assists from Darren Young, who had one and Brad Kri and Drew Berkel, who each chipped in two.

St. Catharines stifled Niagara Falls' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Falcons could not produce up to they normal offensive output. St. Catharines averages 6.6 goals per game. The Canucks were unable to stop the Falcons from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Catharines eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. The Falcons could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 48 minutes in penalties during the game.

St. Catharines was led by Mitch Bennett, who scored the team's only goal. Bennett scored on the power play 15:37 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Falcons had taken the advantage when Niagara Falls' Billy Saxton got sent off for high sticking. Julian Luciani assisted on the tally.

Jonathon D Ilario recorded 26 saves for St. Catharines. The Falcons registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
