Waterloo survives Elmira comeback, wins 3-2Dan Snyder Memorial Sat, Nov 17, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Waterloo Siskins survived a determined comeback attempt by the Elmira Sugar Kings on the way to a 3-2 win. Waterloo took a 3-1 lead during the third period, only to have Elmira storm back on a Brady Campbell goal 15:02 into the third period to pull to one goal down. The Siskins' penalty kill excelled, as Waterloo gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays. The Siskins kept the Sugar Kings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Hayden Neuman made 35 saves on 38 shots. Waterloo was helped by Matthew Mah, who had one goal. Mah scored on the power play 7:34 into the third period to make the score Waterloo. The Siskins had gotten the advantage when Elmira's Clayton Greer was sent off for boarding. Adam Campagnolo assisted on the tally. Waterloo additionally got points from Campagnolo, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Jacob Bonin also scored for Waterloo. More assists for Waterloo came via James Soper, who had two and Jordan Cale, Andrew Brubacher, and Christian Mroczkowski, who each chipped in one. Waterloo was unable to stop the Sugar Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Elmira eventually piled up 71 shots on goal. Elmira also got a goal from Brodie Whitehead as well. Other players who recorded assists for Elmira were Craig Johnson, Pat McKelvie(APJ), Brandon Stewart, and Mitch Wright, who contributed one a piece. PJ Bridges recorded 69 saves for the Siskins. Waterloo incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors. The Sugar Kings incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. |
