The St. Thomas Stars could not stop the Thorold Blackhawks' Mark Arnone, who tallied a hat trick in a 6-3 win. Arnone notched his first tally 9:19 into the first period. He then added goals at 9:51 into the first and at 11:23 into the second.Thorold made St. Thomas' goaltenders to work without much rest, finishing with 40 shots and forcing 34 saves. Tynan Lauziere made 20 stops and Donald Edwards made 14. The Blackhawks could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game. Thorold also got a goal from Owen Sobchak as well. More assists for Thorold came via Matthew Hoszko, who had two, Mackenzie Mac Avoy, who had four, and Brian Brosnan, Vinny Merante, Vince Dunn, and Tanner Pagendam, who each chipped in one. Thorold was unable to stop the Stars from sending pucks towards the net, and St. Thomas eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. The Stars were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 30 penalty minutes. St. Thomas was helped by Drew Collinson, who tallied one goal and one assist. Collinson scored on the power play 27 seconds into the second period to make the score 3-2 Thorold. Luc Knight provided the assist. St. Thomas also got points from Mike Iacocca, who also had one goal and one assist. Ian MacDonald also scored for St. Thomas. In addition, St. Thomas received assists from Ryan Hamelin, Martin Kudla, and Colin Mooney, who contributed one a piece. Vinny Merante made 34 saves for the Blackhawks on 37 shots. Thorold registered three goals on 10 power play opportunities. The Stars registered two goals on eight power play opportunities. For St. Thomas, Knight and Braden Hellems were ejected from the contest.
