St. Thomas survives Lambton Shores comeback, wins 4-2

The Lambton Shores Predators tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the St. Thomas Stars held on for a 4-2 victory.

St. Thomas took a 4-1 lead during the third period, only to have Lambton Shores storm back on a Adam Arseneault goal 19:46 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

The Stars got the win on the strength of a great game by Drew Collinson, who had two goals and one assist. Collinson scored the first of his two goals at 5:21 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Thomas. Martin Kudla assisted on the tally. Collinson's next tally made the score 2-1 St. Thomas with 18:45 left in the third period. Scott Mitchell provided the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 3:56 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The St. Thomas penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and two majors for 34 minutes in penalty time. The Stars had been averaging 23.0 minutes in penalties per game. St. Thomas' offense rang up 31 shots on the Predators' net.

St. Thomas additionally got points from Kudla, who also had one goal and one assist. Ian MacDonald also scored for St. Thomas. More assists for St. Thomas came via Mike Iacocca, who had one and Nathan Judd Warren, who had two.

Lambton Shores stifled the Stars' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Lambton Shores also got a goal from Tanner Ferguson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Lambton Shores were Kyle Brothers, who had two and Adam Wammes and Cale Duberry, who contributed one a piece.

Tynan Lauziere recorded 23 saves for St. Thomas. The Stars registered zero goals on three power play opportunities. For St. Thomas, Mitchell was ejected from the game. The Predators' Brandon Campbell stopped 27 shots out of the 31 that he faced. Lambton Shores totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-8 on the power play. The Predators ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kyler Keating was ejected from the game.
