Thorold beats Fort Erie 5-2 as Creighton gets hat trick

A hat trick by Ed Creighton was the highlight in Blackhawks' 5-2 win against the Fort Erie Meteors.

Creighton notched his first tally 11:25 into the first period. He then added goals at 8:32 into the second and at 19:47 into the third.

The Thorold Blackhawks pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 18 penalty minutes.

In a losing effort, Fort Erie was led by Anthony Passero, who grabbed two goals. Passero scored the first of his two goals at 3:56 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fort Erie. Richard DeMarco assisted on the tally. Passero's next tally made the score 4-2 Thorold with 18:22 left in the third period. The Meteors had taken the advantage when Thorold's Matt Pizzo got sent off for cross checking. Nik Passero picked up the assist.

The Blackhawks forced Fort Erie goalie Connor Visca to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Thorold also got points from Brian Brosnan, who also registered one goal and one assist. Owen Sobchak also scored for Thorold. In addition, Thorold received assists from Matthew Hoszko and Dan Chudobiak, who each chipped in one and Myles Falasca and Tanner Pagendam, who contributed two a piece.

The Meteors' offense rang up 53 shots on Thorold's net.

Other players who recorded assists for Fort Erie were Jesse Parker, who had one.

Vinny Merante recorded 51 saves for the Blackhawks. Thorold registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Fort Erie's Visca stopped 28 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Meteors incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
