Watson leads Stratford over Kitchener, 5-1

The Stratford Cullitons' Ryan Watson had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-1 win over the Kitchener Dutchmen.

Watson's tallies came at 5:14 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Stratford and 15:34 into the first to make the score 4-0 Stratford.

Stratford made Dutchmen's goalies to work all game long, getting 38 shots and forcing 33 saves. Jack Moylan made 17 stops and Marc Williams made 16. The Cullitons excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

Stratford also got points from Mike Pleon, who also registered one goal and one assist and Andrew Barton, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Stratford also got a goal from Shane O Brien as well. In addition, Stratford received assists from Jordan Currie, Dylan Wettlaufer, and Garret James (APM), who contributed one a piece and Trevor Sauder and Jake Ryan, who each chipped in two.

Kitchener's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Stratford power plays. The Dutchmen's offense operated below they season average. Kitchener puts an average of 3.9 pucks into the net per game.

Nick Caldwell recorded 22 saves for Stratford. The Cullitons ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For Stratford, Ryan was ejected from the game. The Dutchmen ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. Kitchener ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brett Clampitt was ejected from the game.
