Leamington holds on for 7-6 win against Lambton Shores

The Lambton Shores Predators tried to dig themselves out of a four-goal hole, but the Leamington Flyers held on for a 7-6 victory.

Leamington made the score 7-3 on a goal by Chris Scott at 3:04 in the third period, and Lambton Shores got as close as 7-6 when Adam Arseneault scored 19:04 into the third period.

Scott had one goal and two assists to lead the Flyers.

The Leamington penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and two majors for 32 minutes in penalty time. The Flyers surpassed its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game. Leamington's offense rang up 56 shots on the Predators' net. The Flyers bested their season scoring average. This season, Leamington averages 3.8 goals per contest. The defensemen of the Flyers were also effective in Lambton Shores' zone, and came away with two goals.

Leamington additionally got points from Cole Chevalier, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Nathan Opblinger, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Leamington also got a goal from J.P. Grineau as well. In addition, Leamington received assists from Eric Leardi, who had two and Jared Dennis, Mitchell Amante, Riley Babkirk, and Brett Langlois, who contributed one a piece.

The Predators made Leamington's netminders to work all game long, launching 40 shots and forcing 34 saves. Matt Mancina made 32 stops and Austyn Roudebush made two. Lambton Shores surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Predators average 2.9 goals per game.

The Flyers registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. Team's Ryan Muzzin and Jacob McGhee were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Justin Tugwell recorded 49 saves for Lambton Shores. The Predators incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Lambton Shores ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Dillon Liberty was ejected from the game.
