The St. Catharines Falcons' Julian Luciani scored 4:58 into overtime to beat the Thorold Blackhawks, 5-4 (OT). Thorold could not complete its climb out of a two-goal hole. St. Catharines made it 4-2 on a goal by Luke Karaim at 14:52 in the second period. The Blackhawks pulled to within 4-3 on a power play goal by Joel Forestell at 2:38 in the third period. Greg Jambrosich had two goals to lead the Falcons to victory. Jambrosich's tallies came on the power play at 6:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Catharines and on the power play 14:07 into the second to make the score 3-2 St. Catharines. St. Catharines forced Thorold goalie Vinny Merante to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. The Falcons were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 32 penalty minutes. St. Catharines additionally got points from Luciani, who also had one goal and one assist, Mitch Bennett, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Karaim, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for St. Catharines came via Kyle Woodhouse, who had one, Andy Sturtz, who had two, and Jimmy Sheehan, who had three. The Blackhawks had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on 10 chances. Thorold also got a goal from Mark Arnone as well. Other players who recorded assists for Thorold were Dan Chudobiak, who had two, Owen Sobchak, who had three, and Matt Pizzo, Adrian Copeland, and Mackenzie Mac Avoy, who contributed one a piece. St. Catharines' starting goalie, Jonathon D Ilario, made 26 saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of Marcus Del Conte, who stopped zero shots. The Falcons registered one goal on five power play opportunities. St. Catharines ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Woodhouse was ejected from the game. Vinny Merante made 33 saves for Thorold on 38 shots. The Blackhawks incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Team's Kevin Lavoie and Matthew Hoszko were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
