Welland uses fast start to beat Buffalo, 10-1

The Buffalo Jr. Blades fell behind early, and the Welland Jr. Canadians kept piling on the points on the way to a 10-1 victory.

Welland was led by goalie Chris McDougall, who finished with 25 saves while allowing one goal. McDougall certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.48 entering the contest.

The Jr. Canadians' offense rang up 53 shots on Buffalo's net. Welland's goal total was higher than its season average. The Jr. Canadians average 3.6 goals per game.

Welland was helped by Braden Curry, who tallied two goals. Curry scored the first of his two goals at 3:06 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Welland. Chris Brown provided the assist. Curry's next tally made the score 8-1 Welland with 1:18 left in the second period. Matt Gillard assisted on the tally. Welland additionally got points from Gillard, who also registered one goal and one assist, Brown, who also had one goal and two assists, Jason Lacroix, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Ryan Migliaccio, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Daryl Thomson, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Welland included Mack Seebach, who had one and Adam Mataya, who had two. More assists for Welland came via Chris Langdon, who had three, Aaron Beally, Cole McKnight, Kyle Phibbs, and Drake Lynds, who contributed one a piece, and Adam Barron and Spencer Giles, who each chipped in two.

The Jr. Blades excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

The Jr. Canadians incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Brandon Klein rejected 43 shots on goal for Buffalo. The Jr. Blades incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
