LaSalle outlasts Sarnia, 4-2

The game between the LaSalle Vipers and the Sarnia Legionnaires was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end LaSalle emerged with a 4-2 win.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Korey Morgan at 17:42 of the third period.

Morgan had two goals to lead the Vipers to victory.

LaSalle's penalty kill excelled, as the Vipers gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 9:07 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The LaSalle penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled eight minors and three majors for 41 minutes in penalty time. The Vipers surpassed its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game. LaSalle stifled Sarnia's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Vipers' offense rang up 40 shots on the Legionnaires' net.

LaSalle additionally got points from Dylan Denomme, who also registered one goal and two assists. LaSalle also got a goal from Spencer VanBuskirk as well. In addition, LaSalle received assists from Scott Prier, who had three and Chad Shepley, Ben Hanus, and Eric Noel, who contributed one a piece.

Sarnia racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 12 minors and three majors for 49 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 27.0 minutes per game the Legionnaires had been spending in the box.

Sarnia was led by Steve Farlow, who had one goal and one assist. Farlow scored 9:57 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Sarnia. Davis Boyer assisted on the tally. Josh Kestner also scored for Sarnia. More assists for Sarnia came via Matt Cimetta, who had one.

Taylor Speed made 17 saves for LaSalle on 19 shots. The Vipers registered one goal on nine power play opportunities. For LaSalle, Rio Anzolin, Zack Percy, and Graeme Brown were ejected from the contest. Sean Parker recorded 36 saves for the Legionnaires. Team's Nathan Mater, Derek D`Andrea, and PJ Vandervaart were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
