Port Colborne beats Buffalo 10-2 as Komasara gets hat trick

Bryan Komasara lifted the Port Colborne Pirates to a 10-2 victory with a hat trick against the Buffalo Jr. Blades.

Komasara got on the scoresheet 18 seconds into the second period. He then added goals at 6:51 into the third and at 18:38 into the third.

Port Colborne put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Buffalo to score on any of its three power plays. The Pirates forced the Jr. Blades goalie Ian Shorthouse to work between the pipes, taking 50 shots. Port Colborne bested its season scoring average. The Pirates average 5.1 goals per game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Port Colborne additionally got points from Zack Deconilys, who also grabbed one goal and three assists, Dayne Phillips, who also finished with one goal and three assists, and Charlie Izaguirre, who also had one goal and three assists. Michael Sharp also scored for Port Colborne. More assists for Port Colborne came via Pat Murphy, who had two, Dima Lavrenov, who had three, and John DiLorenzo and Paul Moskalyk, who contributed one a piece.

Buffalo was helped by Tyler Kessler, who registered one goal and one assist. Kessler scored 9:22 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Josh Marr assisted on the tally. Buffalo also got points from Marr, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Buffalo received assists from Tom Hanna, who had one.

Morgan Hudson rejected 21 shots on goal for Port Colborne. The Pirates incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Shorthouse recorded 40 saves for the Jr. Blades. Buffalo incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
