Darrigo's hat trick boosts Brampton over Cambridge, 4-2Galt Arena Gardens Sat, Oct 20, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
A hat trick by Michael Darrigo was the highlight in Bombers' 4-2 win against the Cambridge Winter Hawks. Darrigo got on the scoresheet 7:27 into the second period. He then added goals at 13:40 into the third and at 19:55 into the third.Cambridge's power play was ineffective against the Brampton Bombers' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. Brampton excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Winter Hawks were unable to stop the Bombers from sending pucks towards the net, and Brampton eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. Brampton also got a goal from Calvin Gomes as well. Other players who recorded assists for Brampton were Josh Villaflor, who had two and Evan Capobianco, Jacob Hanlon, and Brady Clouthier, who each chipped in one. Cambridge's offense rang up 44 shots on the Bombers' net. The Winter Hawks' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Cambridge finished with 28 penalty minutes. The Winter Hawks were helped by Trevor Hache, who grabbed one goal. Hache scored 19:51 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Brampton. Todd Bannermon provided the assist. Cody Gratton also scored for Cambridge. In addition, Cambridge received assists from Chris Taylor, who had one. Erik Angeli rejected 42 shots on goal for Brampton. The Bombers incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. For Brampton, Nik Borschevsky was ejected from the game. Cambridge's Lucas Machalski stopped 30 shots out of the 33 that he faced.
