Niagara Falls blows out Buffalo, 13-5

Darren Young had two goals and one assist to lead the Niagara Falls Canucks to a 13-5 victory over the Buffalo Jr. Blades.

Young scored on the power play at 19:18 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Niagara Falls and again while 4:11 into the second to make the score 3-1 Niagara Falls.

Niagara Falls forced Buffalo goalie Brandon Klein to work between the pipes, taking 46 shots. The Canucks found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Niagara Falls averages 5.5 goals per game. The Canucks got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Niagara Falls additionally got points from Jamie Cardamone, who also had one goal and one assist, Brad Kri, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Cole Vinnai, who also registered one goal and two assists, Garrett Gallardi, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Drew Berkel, who also had two goals and two assists to lead the team in points, and Mitch McIntosh, who also finished with two goals and one assist. Others who scored for Niagara Falls included Spencer Leenders, who had one and Cam Stewart, who had two. More assists for Niagara Falls came via Derek Dallman, who had two, Michael Christou, who had three, and Dylan Pietrangelo, Cole Langan, Marcus Michalski, and Billy Saxton, who contributed one a piece.

The Jr. Blades bested their season scoring average. Buffalo has scored at the pace of 1.7 goal per game during the current campaign.

The Jr. Blades were led by Nick Berst, who grabbed one goal and two assists. Berst scored 4:54 into the third period to make the score 10-3 Niagara Falls. Josh Gordon assisted on the tally. Buffalo also got points from Gordon, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Buffalo also got a goal from Tom Hanna as well. Other players who recorded assists for Buffalo were Kennedy Monaco, who had two and Matt Diehl and Tyler Kessler, who each chipped in one.

Niagara Falls' Pietrangelo stopped 23 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Canucks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Klein rejected 33 shots on goal for Buffalo. The Jr. Blades incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Buffalo ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jake Zimmerman was ejected from the game.
