Myers leads Chatham over Lambton Shores, 6-1Chatham Memorial Arena Sun, Oct 14, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Chatham Maroons had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-1 win over the Lambton Shores Predators. Sean Myers had two goals and one assist to lead Chatham. Myers scored the first of his two goals at 14:13 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Chatham. Eric Palazzolo provided the assist. Myers' next tally made the score 6-1 Chatham with 7:22 left in the third period. Brayden Hopkins assisted on the tally. Lambton Shores was stymied by the Maroons netminder Darien Ekblad, who stopped 30 shots during the victory. Ekblad certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.19 entering the contest. Chatham made Predators' goaltenders to work between the pipes, racking up 46 shots and forcing 40 saves. Justin Tugwell made 34 stops and Brandon Campbell made six. The Maroons put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Predators to score on any of their three power plays. Chatham also got points from Jake Flegel, who also racked up one goal and two assists and Brennan Feasey, who also grabbed two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Chatham also got a goal from Ian Faubert as well. In addition, Chatham received assists from Alexander Morgan, who had two and Ethan Morrison and Steven Szekesy, who each chipped in one. Lambton Shores did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Predators average 3.3 goals per game. Lambton Shores' offense rang up 31 shots on Chatham's net. The Predators were led by Cale Duberry, who scored the team's only goal. Duberry scored 8:49 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Chatham. Ryan Rontondi provided the assist. The Maroons incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Lambton Shores incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
