Port Colborne downs St. Catharines in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

Zack Deconilys gave the Port Colborne Pirates a 5-4 (OT) victory over the St. Catharines Falcons when he scored 1:57 into the extra period.

Although Port Colborne was up by as many as two goals in the third period, St. Catharines kept the game interesting by staging a comeback that ultimately fell short. The Falcons got to within 4-3 on a goal by Braeden Kavaravtzis at 12:43 in the third period.

The Pirates got the win thanks to a great game by Dayne Phillips, who had one goal and four assists. Phillips scored on the power play 6:14 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Port Colborne had gotten the advantage when St. Catharines' Luke Karaim was sent off for checking from behind. Joe Dagostino provided the assist.

The Pirates were often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 32 minutes in penalty time. Port Colborne had been averaging 20.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Pirates cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring four goals on seven chances.

Port Colborne additionally got points from Deconilys, who also finished with one goal and three assists and Pat Murphy, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Port Colborne also got a goal from Bryan Komasara as well. In addition, Port Colborne received assists from Charlie Izaguirre, who had one.

The Falcons could not produce up to they normal offensive output. St. Catharines averages 7.8 goals per game. The Falcons kept Port Colborne's goalie busy throughout the game, and Real Cormier made 54 saves on 58 shots. St. Catharines' defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Falcons give up 1.9 goal per game.

Kyle Woodhouse also scored for St. Catharines. More assists for St. Catharines came via Greg Jambrosich, who had two and Jimmy Sheehan, Jesse Miller, Julian Luciani, and Mitch Bursey, who contributed one a piece.

For the Pirates, Jordan Bolibruck was ejected from the game. St. Catharines' Marcus Del Conte stopped 19 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Falcons totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 2-for-8 on the power play. Team's Jake Bowman and Karaim were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
