Caldwell, Stratford blank Guelph, 5-0

Nick Caldwell was superb between the pipes for the Stratford Cullitons, as he did not allow a goal in a 5-0 victory over the Guelph Hurricanes.

Andrew Barton was a peerless playmaker for Stratford, as he dished out four to beat Guelph,.

The Cullitons' penalty kill excelled, as Stratford gave up zero goals despite allowing 11 power plays.

The Cullitons stifled the Hurricanes' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Stratford's defensive effort looked to be improved. The Cullitons allow 2.8 goals per game. Stratford forced Guelph goalie Quinton Henry to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. The Cullitons were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 36 penalty minutes.

Stratford additionally got points from Shane O Brien, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Dylan Wettlaufer, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Ryker Killins, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Stratford also got a goal from Ryan Watson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Stratford were Jonathan Langford, Adam Zehr (APM), and Jared Culliton, who contributed one a piece.

The Hurricanes kept Stratford's goalie busy throughout the game, and Caldwell made 35 saves on 35 shots. Guelph was hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time.

The Cullitons registered three goals on seven power play opportunities. Quinton Henry made 35 saves for the Hurricanes on 40 shots. For Guelph, Rob Bennett was ejected from the game.
