Niemanen nets hat trick, leads Stoney Creek to 8-2 win over Buffalo

Zach Niemanen netted a hat trick to lead the Stoney Creek Warriors over the Buffalo Jr. Blades, 8-2.

Niemanen notched his first tally 2:23 into the third period. He then added goals at 4:30 into the third and at 9:12 into the third.

Stoney Creek kept Buffalo's goalie busy throughout the game, and Brandon Klein made 40 saves on 48 shots. The Warriors found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Stoney Creek averages 2.9 goals per game.

Stoney Creek also got points from Blake Luscombe, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Stoney Creek included Alexander Zaccaria, who had one and Harry Polyoka, who had three. In addition, Stoney Creek received assists from Lucas Triemstra, Parsa Monsef, Marco Mattina, Luke Zupan, Ryan Lewis, Jordan Thomas, and Jake Milligan, who each chipped in one and Aleksander Panov and Cordell James, who contributed two a piece.

The Jr. Blades excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Buffalo was helped by Tyler Gallagher, who tallied one goal. Gallagher scored 11:05 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Jon Haynes provided the assist. Luke Maving also scored for Buffalo. Other players who recorded assists for Buffalo were Nick Bruno and Domenic Gruttadauria, who each chipped in one.

Brendan Polasek made 27 saves for the Warriors on 29 shots. Stoney Creek incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Jr. Blades incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
