St. Thomas wins tough contest against Strathroy, 4-2

The St. Thomas Stars and the Strathroy Rockets were evenly matched throughout their contest, but St. Thomas made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

The Stars gained the winning advantage on a goal by Chris Maton 18:26 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

St. Thomas was led by Maton, who grabbed one goal and one assist.

St. Thomas also got a goal from Matt Schurr as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Thomas were Ashton Waters, who had two and Scott Mitchell, Ryan Hamelin, Mike Iacocca, Luc Knight, and Colin Mooney, who contributed one a piece.

Strathroy forced the Stars goalie Tynan Lauziere to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

The Rockets were helped by Stuart King, who finished with one goal. King scored 17:47 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Tyler Coleman provided the assist. Blake O`Neill also scored for Strathroy. More assists for Strathroy came via Chase Thornton, Max Naus, and Nick Boyer, who each chipped in one.

Tynan Lauziere made 29 saves for St. Thomas on 31 shots. The Stars incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Dalen Kuchmey rejected 26 shots on goal for Strathroy. The Rockets incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
