Thorold uses shootout to best Lambton Shores, 2-1 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Thorold Blackhawks defeated the Lambton Shores Predators in a shootout 2-1 (2-1 SO).

The shootout featured 14 attempts between both teams. Lambton Shores' shootout goal was scored by Adam Arseneault. Thorold's other shootout goal was scored by Myles Falasca.

The Blackhawks were led by goalie Vinny Merante, who finished with 34 saves while allowing one goal. Merante managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.1 prior to the game.

Thorold excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Blackhawks' offense rang up 41 shots on the Predators' net.

Thorold was led by Ben Hughes, who grabbed one goal. Hughes scored on the power play 30 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-0 Thorold. The Blackhawks had gotten the advantage when Lambton Shores' Ryan Rontondi was sent off for tripping. Robert MacFarlane provided the assist. More assists for Thorold came via Mark Arnone, who had one.

The Predators could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Lambton Shores averages 3.7 goals per game. The Predators' offense rang up 35 shots on Thorold's net.

Lambton Shores was led by Cale Duberry, who scored the team's only goal. Duberry scored 5:05 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Kyler Keating assisted on the tally.

The Blackhawks totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. For Thorold, Owen Sobchak was ejected from the game. Brandon Campbell made 39 saves for the Predators on 40 shots. Lambton Shores ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major. The Predators ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Austin Fetterly was ejected from the game.
