Huge game by Palazzolo boosts Chatham over Waterloo, 7-1

Eric Palazzolo was all over the ice for the Chatham Maroons, as he tallied two goals and one assist in Chatham's 7-1 win over the Waterloo Siskins.

Palazzolo found the back of the net on the power play 11:04 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Chatham and again while on the power play 7:08 into the second to make the score 2-1 Chatham.

Waterloo's 12 penalties came back to haunt it, as the Siskins let up five goals while on the penalty kill.

The Maroons forced Waterloo's goalies to work in net, launching 44 shots and forcing 37 saves. PJ Bridges made 20 stops and Darren Huck made 17. Chatham stifled the Siskins' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Maroons found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Chatham averages 4.8 goals per contest.

Chatham additionally got points from Marco Canzoneri, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Ian Faubert, who also had one goal and two assists, and Blake Blondeel, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Brayden Hopkins also scored for Chatham. In addition, Chatham received assists from Jake Flegel, who had three, Trevor Richardson and Connor Doran, who contributed one a piece, and Steven Szekesy and Sean Myers, who each chipped in two.

Waterloo's offense operated below it season average. The Siskins put an average of 3.6 pucks into the net per game. Waterloo struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 27 penalty minutes for 12 opposing power plays.

The Siskins were led by James Soper, who scored the team's only goal. Soper scored short handed 18:15 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Waterloo found itself down a man on Eric Cimino's holding. Daniel Hanlon assisted on the tally.

Scott Tricker rejected 20 shots on goal for the Maroons. Chatham incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For the Maroons, Palazzolo was ejected from the game. The Siskins registered zero goals on five power play opportunities. Waterloo ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Christian Mroczkowski was ejected from the game.
