Berkel nets hat trick, leads Niagara Falls to 8-4 win over Stoney Creek

Drew Berkel netted a hat trick to lead the Niagara Falls Canucks over the Stoney Creek Warriors, 8-4.

Berkel got on the scoresheet 15:01 into the second period. He then added goals at 19:49 into the second and at 7:39 into the third.

Niagara Falls excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Canucks' offense rang up 40 shots on Stoney Creek's net. Niagara Falls found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Canucks average 5.0 goals per game.

Niagara Falls also got points from Cam Stewart, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Michael Christou, who also racked up two goals and one assist. Niagara Falls also got a goal from Jamie Cardamone as well. In addition, Niagara Falls received assists from Darren Young, who had three, Brad Kri and Vito Scaringi, who each chipped in one, and Garrett Gallardi, Frank Nemeth, and Marcus Michalski, who contributed two a piece.

The Warriors forced Niagara Falls goalie Dylan Pietrangelo to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Stoney Creek was led by Alexander Zaccaria, who finished with one goal and one assist. Zaccaria scored 7:21 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Niagara Falls. Jordan Thomas picked up the assist. Luke Zupan also scored for Stoney Creek. Other players who recorded assists for Stoney Creek were Parsa Monsef, Marco Mattina, Dave Eccles, and Ryan Lewis, who each chipped in one.

Dylan Pietrangelo made 27 saves for the Canucks on 31 shots. Niagara Falls incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Brendan Polasek rejected 32 shots on goal for the Warriors. Stoney Creek incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
