St. Thomas outlasts London, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the St. Thomas Stars escaped with a 4-2 victory over the London Nationals.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Drew Collinson at 10:29 of the second period.

St. Thomas was led by Blair Mincer, who registered one goal. Mincer scored 19:44 into the second period to make the score 3-1 St. Thomas. Luc Knight assisted on the tally.

The Stars put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow London to score on any of its four power plays.

St. Thomas additionally got points from Colin Mooney, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Collinson, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. St. Thomas also got a goal from Ian MacDonald as well. More assists for St. Thomas came via Cam Garrow, who had two and Ryan Hamelin and Trevor Abbott, who contributed one a piece.

The Nationals could not produce up to they normal offensive output. London averages 4.7 goals per game. The Nationals forced St. Thomas goalie Luke Bierworth to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

London was led by Aaron Dartch, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Dartch scored 4:59 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Noah Schwartz also scored for London. In addition, London received assists from Ryan Wells, who had one.

Bierworth recorded 33 saves for the Stars. St. Thomas incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Stars ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Martin Kudla was ejected from the game. Taylor Edwards made 21 saves for the Nationals on 24 shots. London incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
