LaSalle survives Sarnia comeback, wins 5-3Vollmer Recreation Complex Wed, Oct 03, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The LaSalle Vipers survived a determined comeback attempt by the Sarnia Legionnaires on the way to a 5-3 win. A goal by Nathan Savage put LaSalle up 5-2 in the third period, but Sarnia pulled to within two on Jeff Bauer's tally 19:00 into the third period. Scott Prier was all over the ice for the Vipers, as he registered two goals in the win. Prier scored on the power play at 3:34 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and again while on the power play 16:01 into the second to make the score 3-1 LaSalle. LaSalle forced the Legionnaires goalie Sean Parker to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. LaSalle also got points from Savage, who also racked up one goal and one assist. LaSalle also got a goal from Korey Morgan as well. In addition, LaSalle received assists from Eric Noel, who had two, Dylan Denomme, who had three, and Chad Shepley and Spencer VanBuskirk, who each chipped in one. Sarnia was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 28 penalty minutes. The Legionnaires were helped by Davis Boyer, who had one goal and one assist. Boyer scored on the power play 3:50 into the third period to make the score 4-2 LaSalle. Sarnia had gotten the advantage when the Vipers' Blake Jones was sent off for checking from behind. Jason Teschke picked up the assist. Sarnia additionally got points from Bauer, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Josh Kestner also scored for Sarnia. Other players who recorded assists for Sarnia were Matt Cimetta and Brent Sauve, who contributed one a piece. LaSalle's Taylor Speed stopped 22 shots out of the 25 that he faced.
