Early goals doom Buffalo, falls to St. Catharines, 15-1

The St. Catharines Falcons jumped out to a five-point advantage by the end of the first period and beat the Buffalo Jr. Blades, 15-1.

St. Catharines got the win with help from a great game by Ben Walsh, who had one goal and six assists. Walsh scored 6:33 into the third period to make the score 11-1 St. Catharines. Braeden Kavaravtzis assisted on the tally.

Buffalo's power play was ineffective against the Falcons' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

St. Catharines' offense rang up 72 shots on the Jr. Blades' net. The Falcons bested their season scoring average. This season, St. Catharines averages 7.4 goals per contest. The Falcons got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

St. Catharines additionally got points from Jimmy Sheehan, who also had one goal and one assist, Kyle Woodhouse, who also registered one goal and one assist, Greg Jambrosich, who also racked up two goals and two assists, Tyler Jackson, who also registered one goal and one assist, Dan MacEachern, who also had one goal and one assist, Jesse Miller, who also tallied two goals and two assists, and Luke Karaim, who also had one goal and two assists. Others who scored for St. Catharines included Andy Sturtz, who had three and Aaron Taylor and Spencer DeWolfe, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for St. Catharines were Julian Luciani, who had three, Brad Col and Koddi Quick, who each chipped in one, and Brady Allen and Jake Bowman, who contributed two a piece.

Marcus Del Conte recorded 14 saves for St. Catharines. The Falcons incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Buffalo's Brandon Klein stopped 57 shots out of the 72 that he faced. The Jr. Blades incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
