Pietrangelo leads Niagara Falls to shutout victory over Buffalo

Dylan Pietrangelo recorded a shutout against the Buffalo Jr. Blades as the Niagara Falls Canucks picked up a 6-0 win.

Niagara Falls got the win thanks to a great game by Cole Vinnai, who had one goal and two assists. Vinnai scored 2:21 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Niagara Falls. Drew Berkel assisted on the tally.

Buffalo's power play was ineffective against the Canucks' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Niagara Falls' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Buffalo power plays. The Canucks' defense was surprisingly good. Niagara Falls allows 2.4 goals per game. The Canucks' offense rang up 62 shots on the Jr. Blades' net. Niagara Falls was hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time.

Niagara Falls additionally got points from Berkel, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. Niagara Falls also had goals scored by Johnny Curran, who had one and Cam Stewart, who had two. In addition, Niagara Falls received assists from Vito Scaringi, who had three, Mitch McIntosh and Cole Langan, who each chipped in one, and Michael Christou and Darren Young, who contributed two a piece.

The Canucks' Pietrangelo stopped 25 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Niagara Falls registered one goal on six power play opportunities. For the Canucks, Tory McLean was ejected from the game. Ian Shorthouse rejected 56 shots on goal for Buffalo. The Jr. Blades ended with 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and two majors. Team's Luke Maving and Andrew Herrmann were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
