St. Marys rolls over Leamington, 5-1

The St. Marys Lincolns were firing on all cylinders against the Leamington Flyers, and when the final buzzer sounded Lincolns emerged with a 5-1 win.

Leamington was stymied by St. Marys netminder Devin Golets, who stopped 42 shots during the victory. Golets certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.0 entering the contest.

The Lincolns' penalty kill excelled, as St. Marys gave up zero goals despite allowing nine power plays.

The Lincolns stifled the Flyers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

St. Marys was helped by Kurtis Lavis, who tallied one goal and one assist. Lavis scored 8:23 into the first period to make the score 2-0 St. Marys. Tyson Baker provided the assist. St. Marys also had goals scored by Dean Pawlaczky, who had one and Sean Consitt, who had three. In addition, St. Marys received assists from Calvin Penney, Mike Siddall, Reid Oliver, and Kyle Flemington, who contributed one a piece.

Leamington put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Lincolns to score on any of their five power plays. The Flyers did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Leamington averages 3.8 goals per game. The Flyers' offense rang up 43 shots on St. Marys' net.

Leamington was led by Tony Spidalieri, who scored the team's only goal. Spidalieri scored 18:36 into the first period to make the score 3-1 St. Marys. Alex Seguin assisted on the tally.

The Lincolns incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors. St. Marys ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Tyler Bryson was ejected from the game. Matt Mancina rejected 22 shots on goal for the Flyers. Leamington incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
