LaSalle falls to Chatham in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Chatham Maroons' Michael Verboom scored 4:28 into overtime to beat the LaSalle Vipers, 4-3 (OT).

Chatham was led by Verboom, who grabbed one goal.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 14:01 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Maroons were often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 61 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 42.0 minutes per game Chatham had been spending in the box. The Maroons stifled LaSalle's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Chatham additionally got points from Sean Myers, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Blake Blondeel, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Connor Doran also scored for Chatham. In addition, Chatham received assists from Marco Canzoneri, who had one and Steven Szekesy, who had two.

The Vipers were helped by Spencer VanBuskirk, who racked up one goal. VanBuskirk scored 18:01 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Chatham. Brendan McCann provided the assist. LaSalle also got a goal from Nathan Savage as well. Other players who recorded assists for LaSalle were Evan Makaric, Brad Carroll, Taylor Speed, and Scott Prier, who contributed one a piece.

Darien Ekblad made 24 saves for Chatham on 27 shots. The Maroons registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Chatham ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jake Flegel was ejected from the game. Speed recorded 23 saves for LaSalle. The Vipers totaled 35 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-5 on the power play. For LaSalle, Zack Percy was ejected from the game.
