Stratford beats Waterloo 4-2 after comeback scareWaterloo Rec Complex Sun, Sep 16, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Waterloo Siskins tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Stratford Cullitons would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2. Stratford took a 4-1 lead during the third period, only to have Waterloo storm back on a Brandon Jones goal 17:50 into the third period to pull to two goals down. Andrew Barton had a great game for the Cullitons, netting two goals. Barton's tallies came at 12:31 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Stratford and on the power play 7:25 into the third to make the score 3-1 Stratford. Stratford excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Trevor Sauder also scored for Stratford. In addition, Stratford received assists from Ryan Watson, Jordan Currie, and Mitch Vandergunst, who each chipped in one and Mitch Brooks and Dylan Wettlaufer, who contributed two a piece. The Siskins forced the Cullitons goalie Joe Metzger to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Waterloo also got a goal from Keigan Goetz as well. Other players who recorded assists for Waterloo were Eric Cimino, Ted Anstett, Brock Campbell, and Daniel Hanlon, who each chipped in one. Metzger recorded 32 saves for Stratford. The Cullitons incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Waterloo's Darren Huck stopped 23 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Siskins incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For Waterloo, Stephen Witiuk was ejected from the game.
