Early goals doom Buffalo, falls to Niagara Falls, 12-0

The Buffalo Jr. Blades fell behind early, and the Niagara Falls Canucks kept piling on the points on the way to a 12-0 victory.

Dylan Pietrangelo spearheaded the defensive effort for Niagara Falls, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 27 saves for the shutout.

Buffalo's 10 penalties came back to haunt it, as the Jr. Blades let up seven goals while on the penalty kill.

The Canucks forced Jr. Blades' goaltenders to work all game long, racking up 48 shots and forcing 36 saves. Ian Shorthouse made 20 stops and Brandon Klein made 16. Niagara Falls put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Buffalo to score on any of its eight power plays. The Canucks surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Niagara Falls averages 5.0 goals per game. The defensemen of the Canucks were also effective in the Jr. Blades' zone, and came away with two goals.

Niagara Falls was helped by Vito Scaringi, who registered one goal. Scaringi scored 5:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Niagara Falls. Drew Berkel assisted on the tally. Niagara Falls additionally got points from Brad Kri, who also had one goal and two assists, Cam Stewart, who also racked up two goals and two assists, Michael Christou, who also tallied one goal and three assists, Berkel, who also registered one goal and two assists, Mitch McIntosh, who also had one goal and one assist, Marcus Michalski, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Vittorio Giannico, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Darren Young, who also had one goal and one assist. Niagara Falls also got a goal from Cole Vinnai as well. Other players who recorded assists for Niagara Falls were Cole Langan, who had two, Garrett Gallardi, who had three, and Jamie Cardamone and Johnny Curran, who contributed one a piece.

The Canucks incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Buffalo incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. For the Jr. Blades, Hunter Conboy was ejected from the game.
