St. Louis' Edwards deadly on offense in 4-1 win against Granite City

Jeremy Edwards was all over the ice for the St. Louis Jr. Blues, as he tallied two goals in St. Louis' 4-1 win over the Granite City Lumberjacks.

Edwards found the back of the net 9:48 into the second period to make the score 1-1 and again while 17:30 into the third to make the score 3-1 St. Louis.

Granite City was stymied by the Jr. Blues netminder Clint Steinmeyer, who stopped 28 shots during the victory. The solid play of Steinmeyer will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.59.

The Lumberjacks' power play was ineffective against St. Louis' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Jr. Blues could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 32 minutes in penalties during the game.

St. Louis also got a goal from Ryan Hogland as well. Other players who recorded assists for St. Louis were Christian Argyros, who had two and Victor Gortz, Cody Fedak, Kerry McGlynn, and Cody Guidorzi, who contributed one a piece.

Granite City's offense operated below it season average. The Lumberjacks put an average of 4.4 pucks into the net per game. Granite City could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Lumberjacks were led by Roy Grandov, who scored the team's only goal. Grandov scored on the power play 6:18 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Granite City. Granite City had gotten the advantage when St. Louis' Brycon Johnson was sent off for slashing. Aidan Verbeke assisted on the tally.

The Jr. Blues registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Scott Murray made 18 saves for the Lumberjacks on 21 shots.
