Minnesota rips Twin City, 6-1

The Minnesota Flying Aces had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-1 win over the Twin City Steel.

Brad Hauser had two goals and one assist to lead Minnesota. Hauser scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 10:33 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Minnesota. The Flying Aces had gained a power play chance when Tony Buchal was whistled for roughing. Alex Yde assisted on the tally. Hauser's next tally on the power play made the score 4-1 Minnesota with 18:37 left in the third period.

Minnesota's Matt McLaughlin was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 28 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of McLaughlin will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.2.

The Flying Aces made Steel's goalies to work in net, ripping 45 shots and forcing 39 saves. Joey Garapolo made 24 stops and Sawyer Marshall made 15. Minnesota outdid its season average for goals scored. The Flying Aces have scored at the pace of 2.8 goals per game during the current campaign. Minnesota got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed four goals during the game.

Minnesota additionally got points from Mason Wyman, who also finished with one goal and two assists and John May, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Minnesota also got a goal from Alec Brandup as well. Other players who recorded assists for Minnesota were Jared Sprink, who had two and Patrick Kegley and Jordan Forschen, who each chipped in one.

Twin City was held below its usual level of production. The Steel put an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game.

Twin City was led by Chase Myers-Beck, who scored the team's only goal. Myers-Beck scored 2:14 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Nicholas Schreiner provided the assist.

The Flying Aces incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Steel totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
