Three Rivers beats Flint 1-0 as Erlichman gains shutout

Matthew Erlichman was superb between the pipes for the Three Rivers Vengeance, as he did not allow a goal in a 1-0 victory over the Flint Jr. Generals.

Tyler Berry's game-winning tally was the game's only goal. It came at 10:27 in the third period. Three Rivers had gotten the advantage when Flint's Andrew Lay was sent off for boarding. Justin Von Spreecken assisted on the tally.

The Vengeance pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 20 penalty minutes.

Three Rivers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Jr. Generals to score on any of their six power plays. The Vengeance's offense operated below they season average. Three Rivers puts an average of 3.7 pucks into the net per game. Flint was unable to stop the Vengeance from sending pucks towards the net, and Three Rivers eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

In addition, Three Rivers received assists from Nico Vecchio, who had one.

The Jr. Generals did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Flint averages 3.5 goals per game. The Jr. Generals forced the Vengeance goalie Erlichman to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Flint could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 22 minutes in penalties during the game.

Matthew Erlichman made 33 saves for Three Rivers on 33 shots. The Vengeance registered one goal on nine power play opportunities. Anders Franke rejected 38 shots on goal for the Jr. Generals.
