McAvoy lifts Queen City over Peoria, 3-1Owens Rec Ctr Sat, Feb 23, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Paul McAvoy had two goals to lead the Queen City Steam to a 3-1 victory over the Peoria Mustangs. McAvoy's tallies came at 3:57 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Queen City and 19:56 into the third to make the score 3-1 Queen City.Peoria was stymied by Queen City netminder Alec Rounds, who stopped 30 shots during the victory. Rounds certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.88 entering the contest. The Steam's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Peoria power plays. Queen City also got a goal from Trevor Voelker as well. In addition, Queen City received assists from Chase Engdahl, Eric Woodward, Jonah Hoover, and Emil Sundstrom, who contributed one a piece. The Mustangs racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. Peoria surpassed its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game. The Mustangs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in nine chances. Peoria's offense rang up 31 shots on Queen City's net. The Mustangs were led by Kevin Piskie, who scored the team's only goal. Piskie scored 13:36 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Cody Lichtenvoort assisted on the tally. The Steam ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Peoria's Michael Parda stopped 26 shots out of the 28 that he faced. For the Mustangs, Connor Millard was ejected from the game. |
