Kevin Kenny finished with one point to lead the Three Rivers Vengeance to a 2-1 victory over the Michigan Mountain Cats. Three Rivers was held below its usual level of production. The Vengeance average 4.2 goals per game. Three Rivers forced Michigan goalie Dominic Juncaj to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Three Rivers also got a goal from Tom Diffendal as well. Other players who recorded assists for Three Rivers were Patrick Coburn, Chase Leonelli, Robbie Sigurdsson, and Nico Vecchio, who each chipped in one. The Mountain Cats put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Vengeance to score on any of their four power plays. Michigan was led by John Arms, who scored the team's only goal. Arms scored on the power play 5:54 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Michigan. A head contact penalty on Michael Straub had put the Mountain Cats on the power play. Ben Mack picked up the assist. Nate Mortland made 18 saves for Three Rivers on 19 shots. The Vengeance incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Juncaj recorded 31 saves for Michigan. The Mountain Cats incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. |
