St. Louis blows out Queen City, 4-1

The St. Louis Jr. Blues had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over the Queen City Steam.

Simon Koscielski had a great game for St. Louis, netting two goals. Koscielski scored at 1:01 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Louis and again while 18:18 into the second to make the score 3-1 St. Louis.

The Jr. Blues put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Queen City to score on any of its four power plays. St. Louis forced the Steam goalie Alec Rounds to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots. The defensemen of the Jr. Blues were also effective in Queen City's zone, and came away with two goals.

Cody Fedak also scored for St. Louis. More assists for St. Louis came via Justin Rehrer, Jake Wynd, and Cody Guidorzi, who contributed one a piece.

The Steam were led by Trevor Voelker, who scored the team's only goal. Voelker scored 14:07 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Chase Engdahl provided the assist.

Mikael Broliden recorded 16 saves for St. Louis. The Jr. Blues incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Alec Rounds made 32 saves for Queen City on 36 shots. The Steam incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
